Crazy for Sustainability
Sustainable beliefs
Guided by heart and mind
Because everything else is so yesterday. That’s why, here at the Beletage in Vienna, we’re taking conscious steps to keep both your and our carbon footprint as small as possible.
We’d love your help. It doesn’t take much – but it makes a big difference. Thank you.
Fresh. Pure. Just water, the way it’s meant to be.
We're tackling plastic
Viennese water – straight from the tap
Many of our guests from around the world can hardly believe it: you can actually enjoy rinsing your mouth after brushing your teeth – and slurping in the shower has never felt this good.
Hard to believe? It’s just tap water – and it’s amazing.
Can we let you in on a little secret behind this exceptional quality? The Styrians are secretly proud – because our famous Viennese water actually comes from Styria. For more than 150 years, two high-spring pipelines, each stretching 150 kilometres, have been carrying fresh, crystal-clear spring water to Vienna. That’s 220 million litres every day.
P.S. Single-use plastic? Not with us. For example we use refillable dispensers to reduce plastic waste.
Every skipped cleaning helps something grow.
Planting makes real sense
We’ve had a little green agreement with our guests for some time now – one that benefits everyone: people and nature, flora and fauna, guests and bees alike.
How it works - Every time a guest chooses to skip room cleaning – once, twice, or throughout their stay – the planet gets to breathe a little easier. And for a little longer. Thanks to our partnership with Wald4Leben in Lower Austria, we plant one square metre of flowering meadow for every room that goes uncleaned. Step by step, and with your help, we’re leaving a footprint that matters – the right kind.
So far we planted 44 trees and 310 square metres flowering meadow.
Our organic Beletage Breakfast
Truly sustainable. In every sense.
No endless buffets. Just real a la cárte organic breakfast. What counts for us is simple: quality, quality, quality. Our breakfast proudly carries two key labels: organic, and sustainable & healthy. As your hosts, we want to offer a golden standard – so you can start your day naturally well-fed and well cared for. And because breakfast is a) the most important meal of the day, and b) there’s a lot more to say about ours, we’ve dedicated an entire page to it. You better have a look for yourself. So here’s the bottom line: our breakfast is 99% certified organic.
People we value – and who’ve stayed loyal
Many souls, one spirit – that’s what makes this place.
Our team. The hearts and souls of the Beletage Vienna.
Charming hosts. Cheerful masters of all practicalities and surprises. We’re fortunate to have gathered a team of long-standing, loyal individuals – people who know their way around the ins and outs, the ups and downs, and above all: how to take care of you.
Wherever possible, we shine a light on them – and give something back. With flexible scheduling, meaningful training opportunities, benefits, and support that’s both human and fair. We listen, we adapt, and we invite every team member to leave their personal mark in our Beletage. Because it’s only with this colourful mix of people – all sharing the same passion – that our hotel becomes what it is: a special place. A place of real hospitality.
And if, as a regular guest, you find yourself smiling at familiar faces time and again – that, too, is a small but meaningful kind of sustainability.
Delights of every kind – for every sense.
Little acts. Lasting impact.
So – thank you for reading, and for helping us out. For the sake of our planet, which has already taken more than enough damage. Here are just a few final bits and pieces we’d like to share:
"Wool" you let me in?
The wool for our blankets and cushions comes straight from traditional loden manufacturer Steiner located in Salzburg. Local, authentic, and full of warmth – just the way we like it..
Detergent-free by 2025
We're working towards completely eliminating cleaning agents – and we're nearly there. Our micro steam cleaners already reduce the need for detergents to a minimum.
Slip Slidin' Away
Sounds like Paul Simon? True. But it’s also our quiet little hit for the planet: we’re phasing out disposable slippers to reduce waste. A one-hit wonder? Not here. In case you forgot your own pair? Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered (just ask).
